Rising College Expenses are at the top of inflation charts.

I read an interesting article this morning on Visual Capitalist’s website illustrating price changes due to inflation from 2000-2022.

While everyone is feeling the affects of inflation at the check out counter of the grocery store, college costs are not one of those things that are in your face on a daily basis – until it is.

If you’re a parent, it’s likely been 20 or more years since you’ve had to look at how much tuition and fees are for college, so you may have not noticed the 178% increase in tuition or the 162% increase in text books. Talk about sticker shock!

Unfortunately, as these expenses are on the rise, the article points out that assistance and funding are decreasing.

“As usual, low income students are disproportionally impacted by rising tuition. Pell Grants now cover a much smaller portion of tuition than they used to, and the majority of states have cut funding to higher education in recent years.”

So how do you combat these rising costs? I turned to CLEP & DSST exams.

Testing out of college courses by using these exams can save you thousands of dollars. In just a few months, I was able to save over $10,000 in tuition and fees alone by earning college credit hours in this non-traditional way.

Not sure where to start? I’m here to help. Together we’ll decide on which exams to take, create a study plan, and meet regularly for accountability until you take your first exam.
